At 1956 hours, the Union Fire Company No. 1 was alerted to assist the Community Fire Company of Rising Sun (Station 8) on a reported working Building Fire in the area og West Main Street and Queen Street in the center square of Rising Sun, Cecil County, Maryland.
Rising Sun crews arrived to find smoke showing from a two story taxpayer with a working fire in the first floor pet store.
Engine 21-2 took the hydrant in the square and supplied Engine 812. Ladder 21 setup at the intersection and laddered the A/D corner, threw numerous ground ladders, and went to the roof with a crew from Engine 7.
Additional arriving units staged and sent their crews into the scene and assisted with ventilation, overhaul, and searches.
The final Oxford units were clear of the incident at 0039 hours.
Lancaster County Engine 51-1 (Bart Township) transferred to Station 21 for the duration of the incident.
