Rescue Box 2108
At 0756 hours, the Union Fire Company No. 1 was alerted for a reported Motor Vehicle Collision (MVC) on Route 896 just south of Route 10 in the Russellville section of Upper Oxford Township. Moments later, the Chester County Fireboard upgraded the assignment to an MVC with entrapment after receiving reports of subjects still inside. Medic 94 (SCCEMS) was added to the incident.
Ambulances 21-1 and 21-3 arrived and confirmed two subject still in the overturned SUV. The vehicle was up the embankment, on its side, and into a row of trees. They requested a second ALS unit to the scene, which alerted MICU 25 (Longwood).
Assistant 21 (Terry) arrived and established the "Route 896 Command".
Rescue 21 (Capt. Meadowcroft) arrived and the crew stabilized the vehicle with the "Junk Yard Dog" struts. Once that assignment was complete, the windshield was removed and a few tree branches were cut to gain access to the occupants. Both occupants were able to then walk out of the vehicle.
After an assessment on both occupants, both Medic 194-1 and MICU 25-2 were cancelled.
The Oxford Ambulances each transported one occupant to the Jennersville Regional Hospital.
The final units were clear of the scene at 0856 hours. |
