Busy Weekend for the Union Crews |

Since Friday evening, Union Fire Company No. 1 members have responded to 13 calls for service in the area. Beginning early Friday evening, Brush 21 was alerted to assist the Robert Fulton Fire Company (Lancaster County Station 89) on a brush fire. Crews also handled a fire alarm in Lower Oxford later that evening. On Saturday afternoon, Engine 21-1 responded to assist the North East Fire Company (Cecil County Station 4) on a reported garage fire. 2 hours later, Engine 21-1 responded to assist Singerly Fire Company of Elkton (Cecil County Station 13) on a reported brush fire with fire spreading to a structure. Engine 21-1 was redirected to standby at station 13 for the duration of the incident. Later on, Crews responded to 2 separate reported structure fires in East Nottingham; both were found to be controlled burning and recalled shortly after dispatch. Just after 2000 hours, Engine 21-1 and Tanker 21 responded to assist the Singerly Fire Company of Elkton (Cecil County Station 14) on a house fire in Cherry Hill. Crews remained on scene for approximately 5 hours. On Sunday, Crews handled a fire alarm in the morning, followed by a 1-acre brush fire in Lower Oxford in the afternoon. In the evening hours, Squad 21 and the Assistant Fire Chief handled a diesel fuel spill at one of the local gas station in the borough. To finish the weekend off, Engine 21-1, Squad 21, Tanker 21, and the Fire Chief responded to assist the Quarryville Fire Company (Lancaster County Station 57) on a working barn fire in Colerain Township. Tanker 21 supplied 3,000 gallons of water while the engine and squad fulfilled various tasks on the fireground. |
