On Thursday, December 9th, members of the Union Fire Company No. 1, along with family and friends, traveled to the Wagontown Fire Company. The reason was for Chester County Fire Training's Fall 2010 Graduation.
Three members of the Union Fire Company No. 1 were honored for their hard work and dedication to training. Firefighters Stephen Brown, Dakota Brown and Rich Rowe were recognized for their completion of the Fall Firefighter I class. This course spans 166 hours of introductory fire training, concluding with the Firefighter I Testing.
On hand as the guest speaker of the evening was East Brandywine Fire Company Chief Joe Edwards. Chief Edwards has been a member of the Fire Service for 31 years, since he started with the Wagontown Fire Company. Since then he has completed a degree in Respiratory Care from West Chester University, earned his EMT and been a member with the Coatesville Fire Department, Brandywine Fire Company, Washington Hose Company and now East Brandywine.
Instructor Jeff Groves led the services for the evening and was assisted by Fire I Lead Instructor John DeMarco, Fire Officer I Instructor Latta White and Pumper/Driver Operator instructor Lonnie Brown. Instructor Brown was pleased to announce that his two grandsons, Stephen and Dakota are 5th generation firefighters with the Union Fire Company No. 1.
