| Every year at Christmas time, many stories are told about the important of chimneys and how Santa Claus uses them to get into every home to deliver presents. This year, a chimney was again the key to Christmas morning.
At 0812 hours, the Union Fire Company No. 1 was alerted for Ladder 21 to assist the Robert Fulton Fire Company (Station 5-13) on a reported Chimney Fire in the 200 block of Kirks Mill Road in Little Britain Township, Lancaster County.
The 5-13 units arrived to find a working chimney fire in a 2-story house.
Ladder 21 (Lt. Slauch) arrived and was instructed to back into the driveway and set up for operations.
Additional arriving units staged along the roadway and sent their crews into the scene.
The crew from Ladder 21 operated off of the tip while dropping chains to unclog the chimney. The crews from 5-13 worked inside the house to clean out the fireplace and to check for any possible fire extension outside of the chimney. No extension was found.
The final 21 units were clear of the scene at 0918 hours. |
