Box 800

At 0849 hours, the Union Fire Company No. 1 was alerted for one Engine to assist the Community Fire Company (Station 8) on a reported Chimney Fire in the 100 block of East Main Street in the Rising Sun section of Cecil County, Maryland.

Engine 21-2 and Utility 21 responded. Rising Sun crews arrived to find a working chimney fire with smoke showing from the entire chimney and around the base at the roof.

Upon arrival, the units staged on East Main Street. The 21 crews joined forces and were sent to the upper floors with a fan. Once the fan was in service, the crews continued to the attic where they found a moderate smoke condition throughout. They opened up a wall and the flooring around the chimney. While no fire was evident, the crew monitored the area with the thermal imaging camera while the Truck crew dropped chains to break up the burning debris inside the chimney.

Command 8 placed the box under control in just over an hour, however units remained on the scene a while longer monitoring conditions and cleaning up.

The 21 units were back in the District by 1110 hours.
