On Friday Morning at 00:18 hours, the Union Fire Company #1 was alerted for an Engine and Truck to assist the Community Fire Company of Rising Sun (Cecil 08) on the second alarm assignment for a house on fire in the 900 Blk of Ragan Road in Cecil County,Maryland.

Engine 21-2 (Obenchain) arrived with four men and reported into manpower staging, followed by Ladder 21 (Hensel).

Prior to our arrival, Cecil units were making good headway on a second floor fire before interior conditions rapidly deteriorated and they were forced to retreat and place the Truck 8 ladder pipe in-service. With the attic fire in check, Union firemen were quickly put to work advancing an attack line into the kitchen on fire on the ground floor, before moving to the second floor to extinguish three rooms of fire with 2 lines in-service. With the fire under control, members assisted Rising Sun with overhauling several fire area's in the home which sustained heavy damage.

Deputy Chief 8 Blakely held the Command.
