Company Mourns Passing of Past President

It is with deep sorrow that the Union Fire Company No. 1 announces the passing of Past Fire Company President Allen G. Wood, Sr.

"Woody" joined the fire company in 1955 and served as Company President in 1969 and again in 1972. He also served many years on the Board of Directors and was an active driver throughout his career.

Mr. Wood proudly served his country and is a veteran of the United States Army. Allen was a Vice President in banking having worked for more than 38 years in the industry, even manning the "bank" at the annual fire company carnival. He was a member of the American Legion, F.O.E and past member of the Oxford Area Chamber of Commerce.

He is survived by his loving family, wife Evelyn D. Wood of Oxford, PA, son, Allen, Jr (Vietta), daughter, Martha Rogers (Edwin) of Tenn., son, Christopher (Samantha), son, Michael (Donna), 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday August 24, 2013 at 10am at the Mount Vernon Mennonite Church in Colerain Township, Lancaster County.
