Trio of Accidents

Friday evening and the overnight hours proved to be busy for the Union Fire Co #1 Rescue Company, responding to three separate motor vehicle accidents in the district.

Rescue Box 2100 - 18:20 hrs

On Friday evening, while staffing for the Oxford Mainstreet's 1st Friday car show, the Union Fire Company #1 was alerted to southbound Route 1 south of Route 472 in Oxford Borough for a pedestrian struck.

Deputy 21(Obenchain), Ambulance 21-1, Ambulance 21-2 and Rescue 21(Kinsey) marked up after dispatch and received supplemental information from the Chester County Fire Radio changing the nature to a motorcycle accident, and advising that 2 off duty paramedics where on location. Units arrived on scene confirming a motorcycle accident with 2 patients.

Units provided patient care, hazard control, and assisted with traffic control. EMS units transported 2 patients to the local trauma center.

The rescue company was available at 19:07, with the incident turned over to State Police Avondale. Fire Police remained on-scene until 21:00 assisting the State Police with traffic control.

Deputy 21 held the " Route 1 Command".


Rescue Box 2103 - 20:31 hrs

While returning from transporting patients from the Route 1 accident, Ambulance 21-2 came upon a single vehicle motor vehicle accident on Route 472 in the area of Hilltop Road in East Notthingham. Chester County Fire Radio dispatched the company.

Rescue 21 (Kinsey) marked up at dispatch. Upon arrival the rescue company secured the vehicle and provided traffic control until the arrival of the State Police. Ambulance 21-2 transported 1 patient to a local hospital.

The rescue company was available at 20:52, with the incident turned over to State Police Avondale. Fire Police remained on-scene until 21:43 assisting the State Police with traffic control.


Rescue Box 2103 - 03:51 hrs

On Saturday morning the Union Fire Company #1 was alerted to the 700 block of Waterway Rd in East Nottingham Township for a serious motor vehicle accident.

Deputy 21(Obenchain), Ambulance 21-1, Ambulance 21-2, Rescue 21(W. Slauch), Engine 21-1, and Engine 21-4 marked up after dispatch and received supplemental information from the Chester County Fire Radio changing the location to the 300 block of Waterway Rd.

Units arrived on scene to find a overturned vehicle, which had struck a split rail fence and utility pole, with a single patient still in the vehicle. The rescue crew stabilized the vehicle and worked with ambulance crews to remove the patient from the vehicle via the side window. Crews then handled hazard control, and assisted with traffic control. EMS units transported the patient to the local trauma center.

The company was available at 04:27 hrs, with the incident turned over to State Police Avondale.

Deputy 21 held the "Waterway Command".
