Station 22 Box Alarm.
On Saturday afternoon, the Union Fire Company No. 1 was alerted for the full company response to assist the West Grove Fire Company (Station 22) on a House Fire in the Unit Block of Nashua Drive in New London Township.
The caller indicated that the attached garage was on fire and they were evacuating.
This was the second fire in the southern end of the county within 10 minutes, as West Grove's Ladder 22 was already responding to assist the Longwood Fire Company on another house fire, along with Rescue and Tanker 22.
Both Rescue and Tanker 22 diverted to the New London call and arrived with fire showing from the garage, threatening the house. The Rescue 22 crew quickly deployed handlines to attack the fire.
Engine 21-2 arrived and helped complete the lay of large diameter hose, by laying most of their 5 inch supply line, as Tanker 21 prepared to supply the scene. The crew of 21-2 helped advance a handline to the second floor to assist with fire attack.
Ladder 21 arrived and took the First Due Truck assignment at the front of the house. The crew split, with 2 firefighters throwing ground ladders and performing roof operations, while the other 2 firefighters went to the interior to do a primary search and assist with opening the walls and ceilings in the second floor.
Engine 21-1, Engine 21-4 and Rescue 21 arrived with their crews assisting in the garage area.
The fire was quickly placed under control with limited fire spread into the living portion of the house.
Thank you to Lancaster Station 89 for providing the Engine transfer to Station 21 during the incident. |
