On Sunday, May 21st, at 2000 hours, while Engine 21-2 was assisting Cecil county on a 3rd alarm structure fire in Elkton, Maryland. The Union Fire Company No. 1 was alerted for an automobile accident in the area of the 1400 Block of Baltimore Pike in Upper Oxford Township.
Chief 21 (Booth) responded upon dispatch and arrived on-scene, reporting 2 vehicles involved in a collision with 1 person trapped in a sedan, the incident was upgraded to entrapment adding additional EMS from West Grove Fire Company (Station 22) and Southern Chester County EMS (Medic 94).
Rescue 21 (LT. Testa) and Engine 21-1 (Past Chief Obenchain) Arrived, with crews stabilizing the vehicle and removing the driver door of the sedan using hydraulic spreaders to gain access to the patient.
Multiple patients were transported to area hospitals by EMS.
The scene was turned over to the Pennsylvania State Police and Station 21 Fire police.
The road was reopened by approximately 2230 hours. |
