May 22, 2023

On Monday, May 22nd, at 2039 hours, as members were wrapping up training in-quarters, the Union Fire Company No. 1 along with mutual aid companies were dispatched to the 100 block of Pugh Road in East Nottingham Township for a reported house on fire. The initial caller to the Chester County 911 Center reported a house fire and disconnected.

Chief 21 arrived to report a 2.5 story farmhouse with fire showing and transmitted the working fire dispatch.

Engine 21-1 (Lt. Bennett) laying a 5" Supply line into the scene, it's crew deployed two attack hoselines into services to immediately began fire suppression efforts. Ladder 21 (Captain Kane) crew members completed a primary search of the house and deployed portable ladders. Engine 21-2 (Captain Kelley) connected to the supply line and pumped water to Engine 21-1 for the duration of the fire, while it's crew deployed a additional attack handline and assisted with fire suppression. Tanker 21 deployed it's portable water tanks behind Engine 21-2 to set up a tanker shuttle.

Mutual aid units arrived and assisted with fire suppression and remaining tasks. Rescue 27 served as the Rapid Intervention Team.

Command ordered the structure evacuated due to deteriorating interior conditions and Ladder 21 began aerial master stream operations.

Two additional tankers were requested to the scene for supplemental water, with a fill site being established at the high school on Waterway Road.

Engine 21-2 pumped approximately 28,000 gallons of water to the scene during this incident.

Chief Booth held the Pugh Road Command
