Box 2100
Just after 7am Friday morning, the Union Fire Company No.1, Cecil Station 8, Station 22, Lancaster Truck 57 and Rescue 27 for the RIT were alerted for a Commercial Building Fire at Robinson's Furniture in the 400 Block of S 3rd St in Oxford Borough. The initial call to 911 stated that the reporting party could see a fire on the security camera.
Deputy 21 was the first to arrive, along with the Oxford Borough Police, to find smoke coming from the basement in the rear.
Engine 21-1 arrived as the First Due Engine and laid a supply line from the corner of 3rd St and Valley Ave, taking the rear of the building. The crew pulled the 300 foot attack line and began to force the door closest to where the fire was located. That crew then made access via a second door, while a 200 foot line was pulled.
Ladder 21 arrived as the First Due Truck and set up on side Alpha, with the crew assisting with forcing the door and making entry with the initial attack team.
Engine 21-2 took the Second Due Engine and prepared to supply Engine 21-1, but additional water was not needed.
Crews were met with black smoke and heat as they made entry into the basement. The smoldering fire was knocked down and ventilation began a short time later
Ladder 22 and Lancaster Truck 57 set up in the rear, with Cecil Truck 8 joining Ladder 21 on Side Alpha. Additional Truck crews assisted with ventilation and checking the rest of the building.
Station 21 Fire Police closed the road for emergency responders and diverted traffic during the morning commute.
The Fire was placed under control a short time later, with Deputy 21 holding the command. |
