Just after noon on Saturday, the Union Fire Company No. 1 was alerted for an Engine and Tanker to assist the Cochranville Fire Company on a reported building fire in the 700 Block of Street Road in Londonderry Township. The Initial caller to the Chester County 911 center reported there was smoke and flames coming from a roof of a building. Once units arrived on scene they found a building fully involved with multiple exposures and requested a Tanker Task Force in addition to what was already dispatched.
Engine 21-2 (Captain Kane) Responded with 5 members. While responding to the scene they were redirected to the fill site to operate as the " Fill Site Engine ". The crew arrived and began to set up the fill site operation to supply water to the tankers. The crew filled 13 Tankers that were a part of the First Alarm Tanker Taskforce and supplied a total of 40,000 gallons of water to suppress the fire.
Tanker 21 (FF Witiak) Arrived on scene and began to setup the water supply operation at Route 41 and 926. Portable water tanks were utilized to supply large quantities of water to the fire scene. Tanker 21 then entered the water shuttle operations for the remainder of the incident.
Deputy 21 (Meadowcroft) Arrived to the scene and took a command role with several other neighboring chiefs.
The company was on scene for three hours before returning available.
