Firebox 2102

At 0812 hours, the Union Fire Company No. 1 along with automatic mutual aid units were alerted to the 100 block of Union School Road in Lower Oxford Township for a reported structure fire. The caller to the Chester County 911 Center reported a fire in the kitchen and spreading.

The first arriving chief officers reported a 25' x 25', two-story structure with visible fire on the second floor.

Engine 21-1 (Captain Kane) arrived on-site as the first due engine; crew members deployed two fire attack hose lines and began fire suppression activities.
Ladder 21 (Hoseman Holmes) arrived on-site as the first due special service unit; crew members deployed portable ladders, ensured no one remained inside the structure, and assisted the engine crew with knocking the fire.

Due to no fire hydrant in the area, multiple tankers pumped into a five-inch supply line at the end of the driveway and supplied Engine 21-1 with water for the duration of the incident. Tankers were filled at a nearby hydrant approximately one mile from the fireground.

Additional units arrived on scene and performed various tasks on the fireground.
The fire was placed under control at 0855 hours. All units cleared the scene just after 1000 hours.
Fire Chief Booth held the Union School Command.

Units: Chief 21, Deputy 21, Engine 21-1, Engine 21-2, Ladder 21, Tanker 21, Utility 21-1, Union EMS, Union Fire Police.

Mutual Aid: West Grove (22), Cochranville (27), Rising Sun (8), Bart (51) SCCEMS Medic 94, Chester County Fire Marshall's Office, Pennsylvania State Police.
