At 0830 hours, The Union Fire Company No. 1 was alerted for the engine and squad to assist the West Grove Fire Company on a reported barn fire on the 500 block of Lewisville Road in New London Township.
First arriving units from West Grove reported a large barn fully involved; high winds caused the fire to threaten nearby structures.
Engine 21-1 arrived as the 2nd due engine and connected to Engine 22-1's five-inch supply line at the end of the long driveway.
Union crews assisted neighboring companies by utilizing numerous hose lines to not only extinguish the barn but also to protect the nearby buildings.
Nearly 4,000 feet of five-inch supply line was deployed to the closest hydrant, prompting an extended cleanup time.
Union crews returned to Oxford at approximately 4 PM.
